Area Contest Approaching

Mon 27th Feb 2017

February as usual has been a quiet time of year for us, with the Midlands Regional Championships looming on Saturday 11th March we tend to become hermits as we furiously practice parts ready for the contest.

The Midlands Regional Contest (or as it is affectionately known "the Area") is the biggest contest of the year. At the end of February and beginning of March all bands nationally all compete in one of seven regional contests which are used to grade bands nationally. The winners and runners up from each region are then invited to compete in the National Finals, the Championship section Finals being held at the Albert Hall.

This year we are competing again in the 1st section with 16 bands competing in our section. Dr Chris Davis and Kevin Wadsworth will be adjudicating as we play Philip Sparke's Land of the Long White Cloud. Going into the contest we are joint favorites with Langley Band to be promoted to the championship section, however with only 5 points separating the top ten bands it really will be an open field with any band capable of securing a promotion spot. We are due to be playing sometime in the first half of the draw (between 11am and 2pm) and would welcome all our friends to come and support us.
