We had great day, we went on stage and played as we had wanted to. We took the band room to the stage and gave a performance of a difficult test piece – Philip Sparke’s Endeavour. It was well received by the audience and we were tipped for a good result. Many thanks to all of the fantastic feedback we received from the fellow bands people who had watched.
Unfortunately for us, there were some stunning performances from other bands too, and adjudicator Dave Lea could only give us 6th place. Congratulations to the Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band on their win on a fantastic performance.
Our thanks must also go to the LBBA volunteers and first responders, alongside members of Strata Brass who assisted one of our band members when they tripped after the results. We can confirm that he is all well and left in good spirits. Thanks again – really shows what banding is truly about!
Our attention now is drawn to our Christmas performances and the Midlands Regional Contest in March where we will be playing Eric Ball’s High Peak.
