Kibworth Centenary Youth Band Inspires Local Schools on Debut Mini Tour

The Kibworth Centenary Youth Band today embarked on its inaugural mini-tour, aiming to ignite a passion for music among local schoolchildren. Visiting St Cuthbert’s Primary School, Billesdon Primary School, and Church Langton Primary School, the band’s performances were a hit among the young audiences.

The tour was the brainchild of the youth band Musical Director, Sam Haigh. Speaking about the tour, Sam expressed his delight at the opportunity to share the gift of music with the community. “We wanted to spark that same passion for music in the hearts of the next generation, and I believe we’ve succeeded in doing just that.”

The band showcased a diverse repertoire spanning from Renaissance melodies written by King Henry VIII to contemporary pop tunes. However, the standout moments of the tour came from the talented solo performances by Rachel and Toby, both on the cornet. Toby impressed with his rendition of Robbie Williams’ “Angels,” while Rachel showcased her skills with “A Whole New World.”

The energy and passion exuded by the band were infectious, leaving a lasting impression on both students and teachers alike. Through the performances, the young musicians hoped to inspire their peers to explore the world of music and perhaps even consider joining the band themselves.

We’d like to thank everyone that volunteered for the day, the schools for hosting us, and also the Harborough Community Bus for providing our transport for the day. We all had a great time and hopefully can do it again soon!
